Side By Side Comparison of Your Home

HERS II Rater is the title for a Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Whole House Energy Rater. A HERS II rater takes a standarized approach to model a home with computer software after diagnostically testing and measuring the home. CalRATEPro is the computer software used to generate your HERS index score. Pictured to the right is a HERS Index. A New Home would presumably score 100 and the closer to 0 the less energy a home uses.

HERS II Rating uses the only state approved protocals and software that generates a list of cost effective energy improvements that will pay for themselves through lower energy bills.

Independent Home Energy Assessment

We will do your independent Home Energy Assessment to establish the recommended upgrades for your home. These recommendations will become the scope of work on your upgrades.

The BPI Combustion Safety Test is performed to get a baseline for the contractor. The BPI Combustion Safety Test determines your ambient CO levels and looks for any gas leaks. The contractor will use this when they finish their work and do their own BPI testing to make sure they haven't introduced any gas leaks and have no CO higher than what was tested prior to starting your upgrades.

Once the contractor is done, we will come back and independently conduct a retest of the BPI Combustion Safety Test to make sure the contractor has not missed anything. We then do another Home Energy Assessment commonly referred to as the Test Out. The results of this Home Energy Assessment quantifies the energy savings which forms the foundation that supports the amount of your anticipated rebates.

Why Do An Energy Audit?

The reason you want to have an energy assessment done is to determine to what extent the Stack Effect is having on your monthly energy bills.  In addition we want to see what type of lighting you have, what your insulation levels are in your attic and or crawlspace, what your windows look like, your water heater, and finally your HVAC system.  Energy Upgrade California's will rebate up to $4,000 of the cost of the upgrades.  Energy Upgrade California's goal is to help create jobs which has the side affect of stimulating the local economy. With unemployment hitting double-digits and staying there, home energy upgrades are putting the unemployed back to work. Energy Upgrade California is creating a new industry in California. This industry is creating jobs that cannot be exported. To this end, the State of California was given millions from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and Energy Upgrade California is the program that is helping people get back to work. In the process we are making your home healthier, more comfortable, and energy efficient. Additionally, by making your home more energy efficient you are lowering the costs associated with operating your home thus making it more valuable.

Why Do We Facilitate?

Being passionate about making your home healthier, more comfortable, efficient, and valuable, we want to make sure your experience with the entire process is a pleasant one. With this mind, having a single point of contact during the whole process increases your comfort level with the program. You need to make just one phone call should you have any questions or concerns instead of trying to figure who it is you should call.

Energy efficiency is not just for older homes. One solar company analyzed over four years of home energy evaluation data and found that a home's efficiency does not directly correlated to its age. Even if your home is relatively new, you could be saving valuable energy and money with some simple steps.Request an Energy Assessment
